PMPs- The ever rising expectations

Successful projects earn fame and wealth to the company and failures harm the image. But there is one person who is directly affected by these. He is the Project manager. Professionals with PMP certification are well aware that when they take the responsibility of a project, they take the authority to make the team work effectively, failing which results will be impacted. It is here that the learning during the PMP course and the rigorous testing of PMP training helps.
Fighting against failures is what one learns during the PMP course and once he has the PMP certification, he has to prove his capabilities. A failure would not only affect the company but also be loss for the PMP in form of reduced bonus or a denied promotion. Thus comes into play the PMP training where he had undergone tests of his skills. Here are some responsibilities and authorities of the professional who has the PMP certification:
·         The PMP is responsible to give results which imparts authority to decide what resources are to be used and when the activity needs to be completed. He has to ensure that every individual needs to work in accordance. If any person is not performing up to levels, he authorizes to remove him. It is here that he uses the quality of leadership imparted to him during the PMP course.
·         At the same time, he is responsible to keep the client updated of the progress towards the desired goal. This is expected out of the person who has the PMP certification. If he is unable to perform these tasks simultaneously, it would state that he is not effectively applying what he was taught in the PMP training.
·         Internally, the PMP has the responsibility of working with the team. During the PMP course he is taught that he needs to address issues of his team members and keep them motivated.
·         At the other front, he has the authority to represent the team and talk to the company in case there is an issue. It could be shortage of resources, machine up gradations etc. He has to be unbiased, a characteristic instilled during the PMP training.
·         A person with PMP certification has to make sure he applauds and recognizes the efforts of the team on a successful completion of a project. Team appreciation is one important factor that is imparted to him when he undergoes the PMP training.
·         On the other side, he has the authority to take the appreciation from the client on delivery of satisfactory results. He is the face of the team to the client and during the PMP course he learns how he needs to close the project and handover the result to clients.
Thus, if a professional has a PMP certification, the responsibilities and authorities he acquires stands to be at bigger levels. Though during the PMP training, he gets all the essential characteristics but then, it depends on him if he effectively uses them once he has completed the PMP course. The ones who do this tend to have higher success rates than others.
