PMP-What and why?

PMI (Project management institute) has been established as the first program which is for and by the project managers. PMI offers various reputed programs one of them being PMP (Project Management Professional) is the most esteemed certification for any project manager. It substantiates the employees that they have both experience and education which makes them competent enough to lead a project. In 2009 a survey reported how a project manager certified in PMP gets an advantage of approximately $10,000 over the non-PMP project managers.

The current state of economy has made the job market a battlefield where thousands of individuals with similar skills are fighting for the same jobs so there is a need to set yourself apart and for Project Managers PMP Certification could be it. PMP certification ensures a boost in the success rate of the firm and the companies that just support the PMP certification usually have a more knowledgeable, efficient and disciplined workforce.

PMP certification provides you with all the benefits but the PMP Training is one of the toughest tasks an individual has to go thru. The individual appearing for PMP training must have a high school diploma with 7500 hours experience of managing a project or a bachelor’s degree with experience of around 4500 hours in project management. The PMP exam is based on five tasks that have to be performed.

·         Planning of the project

·         Execution of the project

·         Monitoring and controlling of the project

·         Closing project

If an individual clears this test then to maintain their qualification they have to earn 60 PDUs in the time period of three years from various activities such as authoring articles related to project management, speaking on project management related topics or by researching.

To clear the test and to earn PDUs requires a proper training, by taking live or online classes or by attending seminars. PMP Training is provided by many reputed institutions and in addition to that one should always learn new techniques and should join online communities which can help them in PMP training.

The number of project managers is rapidly increasing in India and by the end of this year India will be having more than 2,00,000 project managers and in the coming few years India will need more than 5,00,000 project managers. Companies such as L&T and Mahindra have shown a hike of 15-20% in employing project managers. The global heads of the company says that customers are more satisfied if trained and certified associates are higher for their projects.

Various sectors like banking, infrastructure, IT and telecom have a huge demand for project managers and it will continue to increase but to ensure their quality does not depreciate or not affect their firm in any way the firms will only wish to hire individuals with a PMP certification in front of their names.  So if someone needs to be a successful project manager its time they start preparing for the PMP certification.
